75 Glorious Years Of Independence

In the words of revolutionary BR Ambedkar, “Freedom of mind is the real freedom. A person, whose mind is not free though he may not be in chains, is a slave, not a free man. One, whose mind is not free, though he may not be in prison, is a prisoner and not a free man. One whose mind is not free though alive, is no better than dead. Freedom of mind is the proof of one's existence.”

In the famous "Trieste Destiny" speech, Jawaharlal Nehru announced India's independence at midnight on August 15, 1947. He declared during his address that India will awaken to life and independence when the rest of the world fell asleep at the stroke of midnight. That day we put a stop to our misfortune, and India went in search of itself once more.

When we look back into the window of the wondrous past of India, we immediately fill up with immense pride for how far we have come. What we have gone through every year is a reminder, a ringing bell, of what we have to be proud of. All we have to realize is how hard we worked and fought with the suppressive Britishers. From being small fish in a big pond, we have now touched the heights of space and depths of the core of the Earth. Considering August 15, 1947, as a basis for discussion, we can now see that India has achieved substantial strides in a plethora of fields, including science and technology, the economy, and human evolution.

Our national flag might just be a cloth with a band of three different colors but for us, Indians, it is the source of motivation and diligence. To hoist the national flag and sing the national anthem has a different type of rejuvenation which only we can understand

Leaving our glorious country behind our oppressors left broken pieces of glass, which are the most difficult to put back together. But we did that, didn’t we? We collected it piece by piece and made it a truly wonderful place to live in.

After just 3 years the Indian Institute of Technology was established which then put India on a progressing path. The launching of our first satellite was a moment of pride for all. Indian Space Research Organisation has helped the country make strides in the realm of space research innovation.

Fingers have been pointed at India on illiteracy, corruption, poverty, gender discrimination, untouchability, regionalism, and communalism but we continued to prove our stance and position in front of the whole world, and showed our fortitude.

With a GDP of 147 lakh crore or 8% of the world's GDP, India has the fifth-largest economy today. Our social reformer would have been so proud looking down on us from heaven for all we have achieved.

High-yielding wheat and rice cultivars were sown on a broader piece of land during the Green Revolution. The Green Revolution supplied a record-breaking 131 million tonnes of grain from 1978 to 1979. Then, India was acknowledged as one of the world's top agricultural producers.

The Indian legal system has expanded to be an essential component of the biggest genuine democracy and a crucial front in the struggle to uphold citizens' fundamental rights.

As we commemorate "Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav," the culmination of 75 years of independence could be seen as a fresh opportunity to create the India of our dreams and contribute constructively to India's evolving environment.

We can breathe clean air and plant our feet on this fertile soil free from British colonizers because our soldiers dared to dream of an independent nation. It took years of sacrifice, even abandoning one's own house, disregarding one's own comfort, and opposing and revolting against British control to demand that they leave the country, for the homeland to be liberated from foreign rule.

India has developed a relationship with countries that formerly viewed Indians as lesser children of God and felt compelled to empathize with us because of our plight. They are currently pursuing Indian intellectuals like wolves to capitalize on our diligence and intelligence.

In 121 years of Olympic involvement, India has won the most medals, leaving no stone unturned and no field unexplored. In addition, it is home to many traditions and the largest and most influential democracy.

Any country's development depends heavily on its educational system. Only around 30% of citizens were literate in the early years of independence. Today, 65% of citizens are literate, and the ratio of educated women has increased significantly.

This series of events is an evident example of our independence. Just give this a thought- If in just 75 years we have achieved so much. Think about what we are capable to achieve. The potential we have.

Zero, which is essentially nothing, made the largest and most significant contribution to the history of mathematics, was originated from this great country. There would have been no binary system and, subsequently, no computers if Zero hadn't existed. Who really created this number for the world? The man with abilities in mathematics and astronomy, Aryabhata, an Indian, deserves all the credit.

If you have ever undergone Ayurvedic treatment, you must thank India or, more specifically, the Father of Medicine, Charaka, who was one of the prime contributors to Ayurveda.

The list just goes on and on and on.

This reminds me of a quote by Jawaharlal Nehru - “A moment comes, which comes but rarely in history, when we step out from the old to the new; when an age ends; and when the soul of a nation long suppressed finds utterance”

and that is exactly was our independence caused.
